Sheep breeding, under the certificate of archeologists – the most ancient branch of cattle breeding. Since ancient times "Golden Fleece" – a sheep skin was considered as a symbol of wealth and terrestrial happiness. For the different purposes and various climatic conditions in the world over 150 breeds of these animals were deduced.

 Now the livestock of sheep in the south of Ukraine and in the Crimea was reduced several times because of economic problems. The government of the Crimea puts a problem of increase in number of a livestock of sheep of the adapted breeds to a droughty zone of dwelling.

BREED of sheep – polutonkorunny, shyorstno-meat and direction meat-shyorstnogo is most popular in Crimea CIGAJSKAYA. It is deduced in the ancient time. The origin precisely isn’t established. To Europe it is delivered from Asia Minor; to Russia – for the first time at the beginning of XIXV.

At animals of this breed strong frame, the strong, correctly put feet, a compact barrel-like besskladchaty trunk, a direct back, a long lean tail.

Rams of shyorstno-meat type weigh 85-95 kg, a uterus – 45-50 kg. Wool of the 44-56th quality, length – 9-10 cm, clipped from a ram – 6,5-7,5, from a uterus – 3,5-4,5 kg. An exit of free wool – 56-60 %.

Animals meat-shyorstnogo of type are slightly larger. Wool of the 46-56th quality, length – 10-14 cm, clipped from a ram – 8-10, from a uterus – 4,5-5 kg. Elastic, strong, with small tenderness wool – good raw materials for production of technical cloth and knitted products. Uniformity, density, wool tannin in a combination to durability of an inner side cause a great value of the tsigaysky sheepskins used for manufacturing of fur products.

Tsigaysky sheep skorospely, it is good nagulivayutsya and are fattened. A uterus differs a high molochnost (30-40 kg of commodity milk). Sheep will well acclimatize.
