Ukraine in 2007 left on the third place in Europe on the areas of cultivation of a rape after France and Germany and took the sixth place in the world.

The comparative analysis of dynamics of cultivated areas testifies to it under the rape which has been carried out by Association Ukrainian club of agrarian business (UKAB).
So, in 2007 cultivated areas under a rape in France made 1601 thousand hectares, Germany – 1546,4 thousand hectares, in Ukraine – 802,7 thousand hectares.

On the crop’s eve of 2008 in Ukraine the winter rape sowed 1533,4 thousand hectares that for 87,4 % more than last year. It is predicted that under a summer rape about 155 thousand hectares will be sowed. Thus, total areas under a rape in Ukraine can reach 1,7 million hectares. At mid-annual productivity of 13,1 centners, gross collecting a rape about 2300 thousand tons are predicted at level.

Ukraine in 2008 can already take leading positions in Europe on the areas of crops of a rape. However still the bigger potential of increase in gross collecting can provide increase of productivity of a rape – the expert of UKAB Oksana Makarchuk notes. She notes that the increase in the income of cultivation of a rape should lead to increase in investments into technologies that will promote increase in productivity.

In UKAB note that the increase in the areas under rape crops in 2007 occurred, in particular, at the expense of reduction of the areas of cultivation of a sugar beet, sunflower, barley winter and summer, and also uses of other lands of agricultural purpose.

On the crop’s eve of 2007 crops, according to Goskomstat, were poseyany on the area of 26,1 million hectares that is more on 127,4 thousand hectares or for 0,5 % in comparison with 2006.

The head of a group of experts of UKAB Vladimir Lapa notes that the potential of increase in cultivated areas under a rape far isn’t settled. Despite cancellation of grants for the rape cultivation, the favorable environment provides the corresponding motivation to producers and, under condition of absence of changes in export regulation, will provide increase in crops on an extent of 2-3 years – ascertains V.Lapa.
