Article is devoted to memory of scientist-selector Zoshchenko L.P., which worked many years at Institute efiromaslichny and UAAN herbs, it made a big contribution to development of efiromaslichny cultures, in common with the employees deduced a number of grades of a sage and a lavender.

Lydia Pavlovna Zobenko.

Lydia Pavlovna Zobenko was born on February 20, 1927 in Ulan-Ude. After leaving school from 1945 to 1950 studied in the Moscow agricultural academy of. Timiryazeva. Lydia Pavlovna devoted all the professional life to efiromaslichny branch, having worked, after the termination of agricultural academy, nearly 58 years at first younger, and later the-senior research associate of Institute efiromaslichny and UAAN herbs. In 1975 Lydia Pavlovna successfully defended the master’s dissertation. For many years, from 1965 to 1990, she directed department of selection VNIIEMK, thus was engaged not only scientific to development, but also their active introduction in practice.

The sphere of scientific interests of Lydia Pavlovna were selection and seed farming of efiromaslichny plants. Many years she devoted to studying of theoretical and practical questions of selection of a sage – the major efiromaslichny culture cultivated in Ukraine. She actively was engaged in education of youth and promoted formation of many young scientists of institute.

In common with the employees Lydia Pavlovna deduced a number of grades of efiromaslichny plants which are widely cultivated now in Ukraine. These are grades of a sage muscat – Crimean early, Crimean late, Annual-1, Crimean annual, Mriya, and also lavenders – Krymchanka and Early. The created grades of a sage have not only high productivity, but also various terms of maturing. The conveyor of these grades allows to carry out cleaning and processing of this plant within two months, instead of 20 days at cultivation of one grade that allows to load capacities of efiromaslichny plants evenly.

In the scientific activity by Lydia Pavlovna more than 60 scientific works on selection and sage seed farming, and also other plants, including the Study guide on selection of efiromaslichny cultures were published. It has 9 copyright certificates on inventions, is awarded the order An honor sign and two medals of the Exhibition of achievements of a national economy of the USSR.

Lydia Pavlovna had big authority and respect on IELR collective. Her competence and adherence to principles of the solution of many questions were an example for the staff of institute. It always generously imparted experience also knowledge with the staff of institute and the experts working in efiromaslichny branch of agricultural industry. Lydia Pavlovna was remembered to us as very benevolent, light, sympathetic and delicate person.

Memory of Lydia Pavlovna Zobenko – about the outstanding scientist and the remarkable person, will live for many years in the hearts of the staff of institute and everything who met it on a course of life. And the fine grades of an efiromaslichny medicinal sage created by it will be some kind of live green monument which brings and will bring advantage and pleasure to people more many.
