In a material information on carried-out State department of intellectual property competition on the best invention of year is placed: nominations, conditions of submission of demands and types of awarding of winners.
The State department of intellectual property annually declares competition Invention of year. Leads it The Ukrainian center innovatiki and patent and information services.
Competition is carried out for the purpose of promoting of inventive activity among broad masses of the scientific and technical public of Ukraine, involvement of producers to development of results of intellectual activity in production, and also identifications of the most talented and perspective development and attraction of attention to them domestic and foreign investors and businessmen.
Competition is open for the enterprises, the organizations, research groups in independence of their departmental submission, forms of ownership and a site, and also for certain individuals.

To participation in competition inventions and useful models which are protected by unexpired patents of Ukraine are accepted, have powerful value for development of a science and technologies, improvement of quality of life and activization of activity of the person.
For participation in competition aren’t accepted: inventions and useful models which took prizes in the previous competitions Invention of year carried out by State department of intellectual property; the technical solutions not patented in Ukraine, or that for date of the notification of competition have no positive decision on patent grant; the inventions, useful models, patents on which for date of the announcement of competition lost the action; the inventions, useful models, patents on which it is given out earlier, than in three years prior to date of the announcement of competition;
– industrial designs, grades of plants; trademarks, names of places of an origin of the goods, topography of integrated chips, objects of author’s right and adjacent rights.
In the nominations Best invention of year and The best invention in the region all inventions presented on competition, and in the nomination The best invention among youth – inventions if at least one of authors, in the current year isn’t more senior than 30 years take participation.
Winners of competition Best invention of year and The best invention in the region are awarded by diplomas of I, II, IIIstepeni. Winners in the branch nominations and the nominations The best invention in the region are awarded by diplomas.
Besides participants of competition receive the certificate on free placement of information on the invention within 6 months, about the invention at the Internet exchange of industrial property, and also prizes from sponsors.
For registration of participation in competition each participant till October 31 files the following documents:
· Statement
· Questionnaire
· A copy of the patent of Ukraine on the invention or a copy of the decision on patent grant
· Complete description of the invention
· Copies of foreign patents for this invention and a complete description to them (in the presence of such)
· Calculation of payback periods of introduction of the invention
· Calculation of economic effect of invention introduction
· Calculation of potential size of the market of consumption of production, the patented technology and look-ahead rates of its growth
· Copies of the first pages of license contracts
· Documents which confirm participation in the international exhibitions on which represented this invention or production made thanks to development of the invention, assured the press.
