In article the innovative approach of farmers of the USA to dairy business is shown. In particular, creation of a dairy farm by MCC.
Dairy business demands innovative approaches. Experience of farmers of the USA testifies that revision of administrative approaches and a chain of technological stereotypes can essentially increase profitability of business. The dairy farm of MCC became world renowned.
- We will consider possibility to build dairy farms in other countries – the head the MCC Ric Millner who returned recently from the second trip to Ukraine speaks. – Us asked to be engaged in the project on 1.4 billion dollars in Ukraine and to Russia calculated on 200 thousand cows.
The dairy farm of MCC is based in 1998, then the group of local farmers invested money in the enterprise with a livestock of 1200 cows. Since 2002 business extended to 5000 thousand cows and became the greatest dairy farm in staff.
- At first our dairy farm was pursued by failures, all new and new investments were necessary, and today we are recognized as one of the most large-scale elite dairy farms in the country - the head of MCC told.
- In 2002 production of milk of the highest quality that sounded a little self-confidently was our purpose. Our market – is the cheese market therefore it is necessary to make milk with the high content of fat and protein and the minimum quantity of somatic cages and bacteria. For achievement of such quality, we changed something in a design of cowsheds and found other approach in management of herd – Ric Millner remembers.
Millner, the owner of a dairy farm in the third generation, had some ideas. For example, cowshed creation with the best ventilation and thermoisolation and with a laying from sand.
- Whether we would like to look at the ideas committed to paper, to operate in real life. The next year traced quality of milk in conditions of production, and it exceeded all our courageous assumptions. A lot of things was result of the thought-over process, but also something appeared thanks to luck. We casually came to idea of cross ventilation. Among new elements – the equal roof, the improved isolation, more heavy traffic of air. First of all there is no unpleasant smell which arises in a cowshed, generally owing to manure and laying mixing. In this project air movement in a combination to an inorganic laying (sand) limits formation of an unpleasant smell.
Representatives of five universities arrived on a farm to check quality of air and to carry out analyses. Results were received by the excellent. Air of a usual cowshed contains 15 mg/l of ammonia, and here – 1.4 mg/l.
Expenses on this dairy farm in the first quarter 2006 made 24 dollars on 100 kg of milk.
The management of MCC realized that in their opinion gives high potential for development of the dairy industry. The dairy farm became the company with the mullions-strong capital, with employment of 300 people in the region.
