Thermal overheating (hyperthermia) – a serious vascular illness of a brain. The illness meets at animal all types, especially in summer hot days.
Overheating is accompanied by an imbalance between formation of energy in an organism, including arriving from the outside, and its expense. Heat in an organism it is formed more than it is allocated. As a result of violation of a thermal exchange body temperature raises, there is a venous stagnation of blood, swelled a brain and lungs. When overheating the nervous centers are surprised, the metabolism, function of cardiovascular system is broken, efficiency sharply falls, sexual reflexes die away. Thermal overheating is caused by high temperature of the environment close to body temperature of an animal.
Direct signs of overheating are finding of an animal in warm days a progressive tense on pastures or in shelters without canopies, in the stuffy plokhoventiliruyemy rooms, the closed bodies of cars. As contributing factors the shortcoming or lack of drinking water, chronic cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases serve.
Symptoms of an illness. The clinical course can be easy, average and heavy. At an easy current body temperature raises on 1-2°S (norm at cattle 37,5 – 39,5 °C, horses – 37,5-38,5°C; pigs – 38,0-40°C; sheep and goats – 38,5-40,5°C), at heavy reaches 42-44°C. In an onset of the illness the animal shows concern which is soon replaced by oppression. There is a weakness, the speeded-up breath, palpitation, a strong potovydeleniye. Skin is covered sticky then.
The heavy form of a hyperthermia develops quickly. There comes sharp oppression, the animal loses ability to active movement, lays down and hardly rises. There can come a coma (consciousness loss) and the death of an animal is possible.
Rendering of the pre-medical help. An animal transfer to a cool place, under a canopy, in a room with good ventilation. Take measures to creation of a cool and good air exchange. To an animal give to drink, pour cold water, on a nape and a thorax impose a fabric moistened with cold water. In process of fabric heating, it again moisten with cold water. So repeat repeatedly. Do a deep enema by cool water (into intestines enter 8-10 l). Veterinary experts hypodermically ineciruyut cardiacs (caffeine, kordiamin, etc.), intravenously enter 0,9 % solution of sodium of chloride or Ringera-Lock’s solution. In hard cases at life threat to an animal do a krovopuskaniye, intravenously enter 10 % solution of sodium of chloride or 10 % solution of calcium of a gluconate. Take other medical measures.
Prevention. Overheating of animals isn’t allowed, is provided them in prosperity with drinking water, rules of transportation of cattle are observed by a motor, railway, water transport. In cattle-breeding rooms the microclimate is observed. In hot months of year a pasture of cattle make in two steps: with 6-7ch to 10-11ch and with 15-16ch to 20-21ch. Near pastures or on pastures there should be capacities with drinking water. At emergence of signs of overheating it is necessary to render in due time to animals the pre-medical help and at development of a heavy form of a hyperthermia immediately to address for the help to veterinary experts.
