No, probably, the person who wouldn’t hear about terrible epidemic of the Spaniard who has captured in the 20th years of the XX century almost all globe. However not all know that the Spaniard – one of names of flu and the pandemic which has carried away about 20 million lives in the different countries of the world, was called by its virus.
To struggle with flu to the person it is necessary from time immemorial. The first description of symptoms of a disease can be met even in Hippocrates’s works, however the virus was open only in 1931. Now 3 sorts of causative agents of flu – sort A, B and C viruses are known.
Bird flu – the infectious disease caused by one of strains of a virus of type And. The first case of it the person was registered in 1997g. in Hong Kong. 18 people then caught. Since then the number of the diseased worldwide steadily increases. In all countries, plunged to attack of bird flu, the most drastic measures on fight against epidemic are applied.
Fight differently, inventing a new vaccine or new types of prevention, propagandize a conscientious attitude to a flu problem with attraction of the most active part of the population – youth.
Last week in the Republican center of children’s and youthful creativity with direct support of UNICEF passed solemn rewarding of winners of competition Let’s protect themselves and the environment from bird flu.
With an opening speech to the gathered Alla Sokolova, the chief specialist of department of social protection of the childhood and educational work of the Ministry of Education and Science of AR Crimea addressed.
- I would like, that all participants and after the completion of competition responsibly treated the health and ecology as a whole – she told.
The subject of the responsible relation to a problem of bird flu was continued by Alexey Demyanenko, the deputy director of KGA UKTs Minagropolitika of AR Crimea. He focused attention of participants on extreme importance of carrying out prevention and promotion of protection against a virus.
- With UNICEF support we carried out educational trainings, seminars, competitions, otherwise, tried to involve all means of information propaganda to avoid the scornful and irresponsible relation to bird flu – Alexey Ivanovich told.
The figures called by it only confirmed an axiom is warned – means is armed. In recent years infection "flight" 165 people died of bird flu in the world. According to monitoring of the countries in which the virus H5N1 centers are found, testify to high dynamics of its distribution: in 2003 the number of these countries didn’t exceed 10, in 2007 already more than 60 countries were covered with the wing by this most dangerous disease.
Therefore, according to Alexey Demyanenko, it is necessary to achieve general understanding of a problem of bird flu. And those who isn’t indifferent and shows an active civic stand in this question, it is necessary to encourage in every possible way. What it also started after an opening speech.
In the nomination The best ekolistovka on a subject our enemy – bird flu, our friend – prevention occupied the first place Ruslan Kurtvapov, the pupil of a circle of the Dzhankoysky regional ekologo-naturalistic center of studying youth. The diploma and incentive prizes for the best drawing were received by Pavel Sidoryuk studying 6-B of a class of the Simferopol school No. 40.
But not only winners, and and all contestants with a children’s spontaneity and youthful eagerness took part in business of prevention of bird flu.

The children’s Fund of the United Nations – UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund – UNICEF) was created on December 11, 1946 for assistance to children in post-war destroyed Europe according to the decision of General Assembly of the United Nations.
Including child care by the major international task, the General Assembly of the United Nations in December, 1953 decided to continue work of Fund and to consider it as constant agency United Nations with headquarters in New York.
In 1989 the General Assembly of the United Nations unanimously adopted the Convention on the rights of the child which was ratified by more than 190 countries of the world, including Ukraine. The convention of the United Nations on the rights of the child and the Convention on overcoming of all forms of discrimination concerning women – two base documents on the basis of which the UNICEF programs are under construction.
Now UNICEF cooperates with the governments of the countries, regional authorities and the non-state organizations, realizes long-term programs of a survival, protection and development of children around the world. At regular meetings members of council develop policy, consider inquiries about the help, establish the organization budget. Besides headquarters in New York UNICEF has 30 regional offices working in 158 countries of the world.
UNICEF representation in Ukraine was open in 1997. The organization works at a basis of the Base cooperation agreement signed by UNICEF and the government of Ukraine and ratified by the Supreme Council of Ukraine in 1998.
