In article it is reported about the outbreak of the African plague of pigs in Stavropol Krai to the Russian Federation and possible threat of its further distribution.
It is mortally dangerous only to pigs, but if the center of a disease appears on the peninsula, consequences krymchan won’t please: it is necessary to all svinovodstvo hardly. And pork on the peninsula, as we know, the most popular, after chicken meat, meat.
The virus moves to border
In the middle of October in the Soviet region of Stavropol Krai the Russian Federation there was a case of pigs – at once 117 "patches", nearly a quarter of all livestock of an economy. Certainly, the Crimean experts vetsluzhby very much would like to hope that the Russian colleagues after all will cope with a dangerous virus in the territory it won’t admit it even closer to border. But also prepare to that the Crimea can face the African plague.
Killing and resistant
The deputy chief of GU of veterinary medicine in the Crimea Ivan Gurenko reported that for the person this disease doesn’t represent danger, it pigs are ill only: both wild, and house. But a virus causing the African plague, so resistant that in an organism of an animal antibodies aren’t developed, it means – there is no immunity. If the caught pig survives, and from one hundred havroniya after plague two-three survive only, it long time still remains a virus carrier. Drugs against this disease aren’t present, experts developed a vaccine, but it causes a chronic clinical course as prepares from the weakened strains, and its introduction can cause the same African plague in a pig.
- Treatment of the African plague of pigs in general is forbidden – explained I.Gurenko. – It is connected with such feature of a virus, as a high kontaginoznost: it is not so obligatory to sick pig to contact to another to infect it. Everything – from a scrap of a laying or a dung brought on wheels or footwear, to a forage can be a carrier of the activator. The cat, a dog or a cock, visited near a sick pig, too become carriers though don’t fall ill.
If pigs started missing
In the Crimea farms of all forms of ownership contain about 180 thousand these animals, annually on the peninsula about 3,5 thousand t of pork (in Ukraine 168 thousand t) are made. The livestock of "patches" in an autonomy increases, though still many pigs deliver from the next areas (Kherson, Nikolaev).
In the Crimea it is a little large-scale pig-breeding enterprises: generally pigs contain on private farmsteads, farmers are engaged in them also. Therefore for the Crimean animal husbandry outbreak of the African plague on agricultural enterprise – trouble, but when the disease gets over on a farmstead – it already accident because to isolate the center much more difficult.
Economic consequences of a disease won’t please those who is connected with agricultural industry: cultivation of pigs where the centers were revealed, it will be forbidden within a year, and in the first quarantine zone (it surrounds a place of localization of a virus) – six months.
Not to notice the animal who has fallen ill with the African plague, it is impossible. It is visible at once on behavior of pigs. Besides, speed from which the virus "mows" animals (within three-four days obvious symptoms of an illness are shown) should guard the owner. But even, if the owner managed to hammer a "suspicious" mumps, when cutting ink it is visible that with an animal not everything is all right: skin with a cyanotic shade, dark red spots and hemorrhages; the same shade is got by a mucous membrane of a mouth and a conjunctiva of eyes; a cardiac muscle flabby, in it there can be traces of hemorrhages, as well as in increased and bulked up a liver and kidneys. Such meat under no circumstances shouldn’t get on the markets or to shops, hulks with visible symptoms of a disease, according to veterinary and sanitary requirements, should be destroyed on a place.
The most strict quarantine
Very important at once, at the first signs of an indisposition of pigs to report the matter to experts, not to try to cope with a situation independently. By the way, for attempt of concealment of a case or delay with the message on it, the strict liability and for the owner of animals, and for missed the beginning of an epizootiya of the expert is provided.
For many krymchan loss even several pigs seems accident therefore they can try to keep silent about the suspicions. But thus it is necessary to understand: only veterinarians can define the case reason, and the will be quicker diagnosed, the losses will be smaller. If it is really African plague of pigs, rescue from it isn’t present, and prevent its victorious procession along all Crimea only strict quarantine can. All animals in the disease center – both patients, and suspects of they are should be destroyed.
In the Crimea still cases of the African plague of pigs never were registered, in 1978 it happened at neighbors, in Odessa region. In the autonomy territory from 1993 to 1995 classical plague – in the Bakhchsarai, Dzhankoysky and Krasnoperekopsky areas was noted.
From classical plague there is a rescue – a vaccine which without fail impart an animal both in farms, and on private farmsteads. But this immunity won’t help at infection of animals with the African plague, from it all of them will equally be lost.
It would be very desirable to hope that the dangerous virus after all won’t cross border and won’t reach the Crimea. But if the distance between the centers of the African plague and the peninsula begins to be reduced and the virus closely will come nearer to us, to the Crimean breeders will recommend to turn the grunting property into canned food or meat products somewhat quicker.
