The alternative to barley is found
The majority of farmers continue to remain supporters of traditional agricultural cultures, though speak about unprofitableness separate of them. Argument uniform: our grandfathers and technology so sowed is already fulfilled. Meanwhile, requirements of the grain market change, and not to notice this tendency it is impossible. But in adverse year productivity of a sorghum less than 40 centners from hectare won’t be, at the same time when barley can give and till 8-10.

On Hersonshchin came to conclusion that the culture – a sugar sorghum can become the competitor to a sugar beet perspective for cultivation in industrial volumes. It was finished at Institute of agriculture of the Southern region. It is confirmed, in particular, that this drought-resistant plant in height to 5 meters contains in the leaves and a stalk to 18 percent of sugar, and the juice exit from it reaches 48 percent. In this southern region it sustained even rigid weather climatic conditions which were observed throughout the long period in conditions bogara. Each hectare of sugar "reed" on Hersonshchin gave 1362 centners of green material. From such quantity it is possible to receive at least 500 centners of juice, and from juice – sugar syrups for requirements of the food industry and alcohol – retifikat which exit reaches 8 %. Besides, green material of a sorghum – a fine forage. The sugar sorghum in Moldova occupies the increasing areas. And juice there receive directly in the field, sending on distillation a semi-finished product. The alcohol received from sorgovy juice, – a fine additive to gasolines. Russia is interested in an import of such alcohol for "intoxication" of fuel, in particular. Technology of processing of a sugar sorghum the almost without waste. From moist weight from which it is wrung out juice, make high-quality paper for banknotes. These also valuable raw materials for the Kherson pulp-and-paper plant. And grades perspective are: the Moldavian scientists created "Porumben-4" and "Porumben-5", in Lugansk deduced a new general grade of "Porumben-6".
It is equated to grain cereals
On the qualities of a sorghum it is equated to grain of grain cereals – the good concentrated forage for cattle. For otkorma it is expedient to grow up animals of culture not only on grain, but also on hay, a green forage and a silo. Hay from it differs high nutritiousness as contains 7-17 % of a protein, easily gives in to siloing. The silo from it doesn’t renounce to the corn. By amount of sugars the culture overtakes the queen of fields and sunflower.
The sorghum gives rather big crops of fodder grain, hay and green material. In droughty years its crop surpasses over other fodder plants. Thanks to high drought resistance with success it is cultivated in droughty regions where a grain yield receive to 20 centners from hectare. Not without reason in world agriculture of a sorghum occupies the space of 30 million hectares.
Special value of grain that it contains 12-15 % of a protein, 65-75 % of starch and to 4,5 fats, has thick and outwardly firm stalk, can form some stalks. Leaves has like the corn. Color of grain can be a miscellaneous – from white to black. The root system is strongly developed, a lot of heat demands. Seeds start to sprout at temperature 10-12os. Shoots at lower temperature develop rather poorly, and at insignificant frosts perish.
Can be the good predecessor
High drought resistance speaks not only existence of powerful root system, but also ability to stop growth in sharp shortage of moisture in the soil.
Good predecessors for a sorghum – annual bean plants, and also winter grain crops. The sorghum takes out many nutrients from the soil therefore he can’t be considered as the good predecessor for cultures which follow it. At sorghum cultivation with annual bean plants, and also at application of fertilizers it can be the quite good predecessor.
Soil processing under a sorghum begin with autumn: after cleaning of the grain carry out lushcheny eddishes, deep zyablevy plowing, and in the spring – an early spring boronovaniye, cultivation, and before crops cultivation with a boronovaniye. Considerably increase productivity of a sorghum organic and mineral fertilizers.
And in brewing it is applied
There are some versions of a sorghum, but proceeding from nature of use, it is divided into four primary groups: a sugar sorghum with a soft juicy core which is grown up on a forage to cattle and for production of a syrup; grain that is made for the sake of starchy seeds which is used in food and on fodder; coronal or panicled, a sorghum with long rigid branches; pasturable or grassy which includes also a Sudanese grass, it is sowed in fodder travosmesyax with other cereals.
On Dnepropetrovshchin a sorghum grow up as alternative to barley since for production of more muddy beer sorgovy malt is used. Besides, from a sorghum beer is developed in house conditions. As a whole the general consumption of beer makes 30 million of a sorghum gekalitrov.
