In article there is a speech about centuries-old history of a water management of the Crimea. Problems and ways of their decision are considered.

On June 3, 2007 (the first Sunday of June) – Day of workers of the water management, established by the Presidential decree of Ukraine from March 18, 2003 of No. 226/2003.
On May 23, 1921 Krymrevkom approved creation of Management of a water management in the Crimea (Krymvodkhoza).
On April 10, 1956 the order on the Crimean regional management of a water management created Salgirsky management of irrigating systems.
Efforts of workers of the water economic organizations, the population directed on requirements satisfaction and branches of national economy in water resources, are adequately estimated by the state.
On March 18, 2003 the Presidential decree of Ukraine established a professional holiday – Day of workers of a water management which is annually marked out in Ukraine on the first Sunday of June.
The centuries-old history of a water management of the Crimea originates in IVstoletii B.C. when thanks to the constructed water supply systems from the river Black ancient Greeks provided activity of the well-known city of Chersonese and a set of settlements with irrigated lands, and in the I century of our era on lands Yuzhnoberezhya and in river valleys of the foothills of the Crimea Romans created trustee committees to a water poispolzovaniye for an irrigation of gardens and vineyards.
The new period in the history of a water management of the Crimea came with construction of the North Crimean channel on which dneprovsky water on October 17, 1963 came.
As a result of heroic work of reclamation experts of the Crimea for short term the largest water economic complex including the North Crimean channel, an intereconomic meliorative network in extent more than 1500 km with cascades of pump stations, bulk reservoirs in total amount of 150 million m3, and also an intraeconomic meliorative network on the area more than 350 thousand hectares was created.
In the territory of the peninsula 315 lakes, 1634 ponds, 1659 water currents in extent of 5966 km are. The area of the lands occupied with water objects, makes 226,3 thousand hectares or 8,3 % of its territory, and total length of the coastline of water objects – 12,2 thousand km.
The big contribution to business of development of land improvement in the Crimea was brought by the chief oblvodxoza Alexander Fedorovich Shavin.
Today the new generation of employees of branch continues to bear watch of veterans.
Along with certain achievements in a water economic complex of the Crimea a number of problems which should find soon the decision collected also.
We managed to keep intereconomic meliorative systems which even at huge deficiency of financing manage to be maintained without accident. With a view of renewal of a role of the reclaimed lands in food and resource supply the population of the Crimea and Ukraine, improvement of a condition of rural territories and living conditions of rural population it is necessary to dig up in the shortest terms resources for development and implementation of the complex regional development program of agricultural production in which to define reference points of development of irrigated agriculture and its role in republic economy.
Priorities of the Program should become restoration of intraeconomic meliorative systems taking into account application of modern methods of watering and highly effective use of irrigated lands.
Is at workers of a water management and the problems demanding the decision at different levels. It:
– deficiency of funds for restoration of the North Crimean channel, intereconomic meliorative systems and the equipment on them which have fulfilled 2-3 amortization terms;
– deficiency of means of the government budget on pumping of water in points vodovydela agricultural producers in the sum of 11,2 million UAH.
– lack of a source of financing in the sum of 4,4 million UAH. on the electric power for filling of the Intermountain reservoir;
– water supply, first of all rural population of the Crimea which is carried out not at the proper level;
– universal pollution of coastal protective strips – coastlines of the seas, the rivers, lakes and other water objects;
– absence of experts of irrigated agriculture in water users farms and some other problems.
Despite difficulties, many thousands group of workers of a water management with pride fulfills the professional duty and provides on the sites social and economic development of the Autonomous Republic Crimea.
