Modern packing materials for foodstuff

Packing materials for foodstuff become every year more and more attractive, economic, safe. In recent years the packing industry offers a large number of new types of packings for foodstuff from materials with the increased protective and safe properties for the consumer. The most important property of some new materials – environmental friendliness, i.e. their subsequent disintegration under the influence of biological factors. Experience of known Western firms is given in article in the field of development and introduction of new types of packing materials for packing and storage of foodstuff.

In recent years production workers offer many new types of packaging for dairy products

Years the packing industry offers Vposledniye a large number of new types of packings for foodstuff with use of various protective materials. Modern packing materials become more and more functional, attractive, harmless that promotes expansion of the sphere of their application in various branches of the food industry.

PROTECTIVE PROPERTIES – FIRST OF ALL

Standard packing polymers (for example, polyethylene, polypropylene and polyair) not always provide reliable protection of a product at its storage in packing. For providing this requirement it is necessary to limit as much as possible possibility of penetration of oxygen or moisture deep into packings. For the purpose of strengthening of barrier properties, the main packing material can be laminated; to be produced by a method of a simultaneous ekstrudirovaniye or to become covered by protective films.

Protective materials exist any more one decade, but the structure of modern packing materials became much more difficult, as now packing should not only protect a soderzhimy product from influence of oxygen of air and water parov, but also carry out other functions. It is necessary, that protection at the same time provided to packing additional durability, tightness and that packing could be closed after disclosure – without significant increase thus costs of the packed product.

In spite of the fact that a foil now widely use as a protective material, at its use not always it is possible to reach desirable level of protective properties of packing.

Now, thanks to a multilayered ekstrudirovaniye it is possible to create coverings which allow to connect functions of protection, sealing and possibility of the following closing of packing by the consumer, and also to unite in one packing such materials which can’t be united at lamination. So, the material Sleagfo_lfirmy Rollrgints the film covering connecting oxygen, consists of a passive protective layer of an oxide of aluminum with an active protective layer. The transparent material which gives the chance to the buyer to see packing contents as a result turns out. Thus it has same or even higher protective properties, as a thin foil.

NEW  OLD PACKINGS

Quite recently by way of an ekstrudirovaniye the multilayered material from the polyolefins, intended for manufacturing of covers for glasses with yogurt, instead of covers from a foil is received. On these flat covers which on the properties don’t concede to covers from a laminate, it is possible to place the printing text. Such covers provide good tightness of packing and easily separate from a glass.

Specialists of Alcan Raskaging firm developed a drying film which pressurizes packing under the influence of heat. It also can absorb moisture from air which fills free space in packing. Thus a film select so that it was possible to close hermetically packing (both soft, and rigid) after the first opening.

The most rigid requirements to protective materials are shown at their use for manufacturing of sterilized packages. Sterilized packages have good prospect for use in the dairy industry. Usually the material for manufacturing of such package represents a combination of a film, a foil or a protective material of other type with layers of a hermetic material between them. Thus each layer plays a part for ensuring necessary protection and a demanded period of storage of a product. When manufacturing a packing material for the purpose of the prevention of stratification and ensuring reliable sealing it is necessary to use only special nontoxical types of glues.

Transparent material which predlagaetfirma Sonocodlya of sterilized packages, consists from pechatnogosloya polyair or polyair layer with a covering and cast polypropylene or a printing layer of polyair with a covering, a layer nejlonai cast polypropylene. Transparency of a material gives the chance to see a product in packing, at the same time this material provides possibility of warming up of a product in this packing in the microwave oven.

For the purpose of simplification of opening, on packing of sterilized packages, as a rule, do cuts, and on some packages put with the laser the gap line thanks to which consumers can easily open them.

ALTERNATIVE TO CONTAINERS

In order that easily and quickly to open a package, and then and to close it, apply the lock – "lightning" which maintains severe constraints of sterilization. Probably, creation of ventilation of a product in packing becomes a further step to this direction. It is very complex challenge as the ventilating opening should maintain process of sterilization and at the same time exhaust when heating. But work proceeds…

One more attractive type of packaging for foodstuff is a packing from materials which decay biologically. Them receive from annually updated materials. One of biopolymers on the basis of corn – NanureWorksPLA (polilaktid) from CargillDow firm – gains popularity as alternative to the thermoformed containers.

In some European markets consumers prefer foodstuff in such packing and are ready to pay for them more expensively. At researches of 2400 consumers of Germany, France, Italy and Great Britain, 59 % of respondents refer packing of fresh products in natural container to "very desired". From them 72 % agree to pay for such products for 10 euros cents more, and 67 % - even for 20 %.

The Italian distribution network of IPERnachala to use containers from the above-named material nearly two years ago and now packs into them a large amount of various foodstuff. At introduction of new container carried-out researches of the market showed that the majority of buyers is perceived by the products packed into natural materials, as the most suitable for long storage.

Packing materials become every year more and more functional, attractive, economic that promotes expansion of the sphere of their application in various branches of the food industry.
