Biotechnologies for agricultural industry

In this publication it is told about application of genetic engineering in agricultural industry.
Introduction of achievements of domestic bioengineering could impulse to development of agricultural industry.

While discussions about safety and expediency of cultivation of gene-modified (hypermarkets) of cultures are conducted, at least in 18 countries these questions are solved long ago. Canada, the USA, Romania, China, Austria, India, the Republic of South Africa, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina already wholly estimated economic benefits which genetic engineering gives to agricultural industry. More than 50 thousand hectares of their ground areas are occupied with GM-plants. Some more the countries, including members of EU, check and test a number of GM-cultures for the purpose of development of this area of agricultural industry. In China, for example, the areas which have been taken away under GM-cultures, extend for 30 % annually.

Advantages of cultivation of the non-polluting plants steady against influence of external factors and wreckers, became long ago obvious for the majority of developed countries.

Within the Himagroekspo exhibition passed a practical seminar Biotechnology for agricultural industry. Opening it K.Skryabin who is engaged in scientific development in the field of biotechnologies already many years, expressed opinion on groundlessness of any fears constraining distribution of gene-modified cultures in agricultural industry. It appeliruet to that fact that up to today in the world wasn’t registered any case of negative impact of GM-products on health of the person.

On the one hand, the scientific biotechnological base is recognized as one of the best in the world – there is a mass of institutes, achievements and successes, new development is constantly conducted. On the other hand, current state of agricultural industry convincingly speaks about need to develop it in all possible ways. Introduction of achievements of domestic bioengineering in agricultural industry could give a sensitive push to development of the last.

The general opinion is reduced to that traditional agricultural methods, as well as biotechnological, can’t be considered as the universal. For modern agricultural industry methods of modern selection, and achievement of genetic engineering are equally important also. Only under condition of cooperation of experts of both areas there is possible an emergence of the non-polluting, safe crops which production will be economic.
