In this article recommendations of the scientist about optimum term of efficiency of life of cows are made.

Longevity of cows has a special urgency. The period of economic use of cows is longer, the their lifelong efficiency is higher, it is more than descendants, economic efficiency of the maintenance of animals is higher.
Calculations show that if average duration of use of cows will be less than 2,5 lactations, cows – mothers will start to leave herd earlier, than their daughters will breed. At such situation the herd will cease to exist as complete biological system.
There is a difficult correlation of duration of economic use and lifelong efficiency with a number of economic and biological signs: receiving dairy fat, in live weight, efficiency on the 3rd and highest lactations.
By science and practice it is proved that the highest efficiency of cows of absolute majority of the breeds planted in Ukraine, is shown on 6-7 lactations. For the first lactation of a cow make 70-73 % of milk in relation to a yield of milk for 6-7 lactations.
As a whole, draws generalizing conclusion scientific, minimum term of productive life of cows should make 6 years.
