About changes to the law about grapes and grape wine

In the publication it is reported about the main requirements of the Law No. 3427-IV from February 9, 2006 About modification to the Law of Ukraine About grapes and grape wine, signed by the President of Ukraine.

The president of Ukraine signed the Law No. 3427-IV from February 9, 2006 About modification to the Law of Ukraine About grapes and grape wine.

The law is directed on improvement of regulation of legal relations in the sphere of wine growing and winemaking of Ukraine, in particular, the state control in these branches and prevention of falsification of wines. In the law the questions connected with the organization of the maintenance of vineyards, by requirements to quality of the raw materials used for production of wines, a production regulation are taken up. The adopted law abolished the requirements limiting use of a grape mash only for production of wine. Under the new law from a grape mash it is possible to make and other wine-making products. The concept of ordinary wines is changed also – they can be sustained (earlier the term ordinary wine meant wine without endurance).

The new law specifies definitions of a number of terms which are applied in the Law About grapes and grape wine. In particular, it concerns terms: "wine", wine natural, falsification of wines, champagne of Ukraine, cognac of Ukraine.

From now on it is authorized to use a spirtovy concentrate of grape juice and a spirtovanny mash not only for production of sherries, but also by production of other fortified wines.

Owing to the brought changes consumers receive a guarantee that the forged wine-making product which is not meeting the requirements of the existing specifications and technical documentation on its production, won’t get on shelves of shops.

There was also separate instruction concerning collection wines which are necessary for maintaining in special rooms of cchetko in certain parameters of endurance.

In the new edition the Law the instruction that wine dining rooms branded are produced only natural is excluded.
