In article it is reported about problems of producers of milk in Ukraine, as directly suppliers of raw materials, and pererabotchik.
At the same time, despite high cost of dairy products, their quality doesn’t correspond to the international standards that can lead to a sharp growth in volumes of an import of dairy production to Ukraine in the conditions of the WTO.
ROUND DAIRY PROBLEMS
This spring milk jugs explicitly overestimated the production – to buy it at the new prices not bylogotovo the majority of Ukrainians, as led to decrease in sales volumes for 10-15 %. However, producers don’t lose hope to force suppliers to reduce the price for raw materials and to work over its quality. If these diligence don’t come true, plants will lose the last chance to stand before the western competitors in the conditions of the WTO.
Last autumn raw wars between plants led to an unprecedented rise in prices: cost of liter of milk exceeded 3 hryvnias.
For the last year the prices increased more, than for 80 % that speaks both inflationary tendencies in the country, and rigid deficiency of milk. To keep profitability, pererabotchik raised the price for finished product. Average dynamics of a rise in price reached 30 %, and firm cheese raised in the price for 50 %.
However, as showed reality, the market didn’t sustain new price policy. Seasonal increase of sales of dairy production which is observed in every winter and makes not less than 15 %, in 2008 didn’t take place. Moreover, some producers fixed decrease in volumes of realization for 5-10 %.
According to the experts, many plants received from home shopping service of ton of unrealized production. In trade the resection of sales in favor of cheap dairy production took place: Ukrainians buy as before essentials (milk, kefir, oil, etc.), but refuse "refinement" – the glazed tvorozhok, desserts, etc. Stagnation of the market was aggravated by the fact of reduction of prices of dairy production in the world market. For example, cost of powdered milk for 1 ton decreased and made about 3 thousand US dollars that speaks its overproduction. For our producers export of powdered milk is one of the strategic directions.
According to experts, spring recession of dairy sales gives the chance to pererabotchik to direct cooperation with suppliers to qualitatively new course. However, possibility of improvement of quality of raw materials is improbable: as well as earlier, not less than 70 % of milk for plants deliver family households.
Pererabotchikam it will be heavy to achieve reduction of prices of raw materials since for the last year cost of its production essentially increased, and farms hardly will make concessions without fight. Last year barley rose in price for 60 %, and compound feeds – twice therefore it is improbable that farms will reduce the price to last year’s level.
Active expansion of foreign producers of dairy production can become a result of permanent collisions between domestic pererabotchik and suppliers of milk. Decrease in customs duties on milk and dairy products as Ukraine undertook to take this step can assist it, accessing to WTO.
On forecasts, sales volumes of import production can increase for 85 %, and recession of internal production will make 15-20 %. Deliver the production on foreign markets our producers can’t for the well-known reason: quality of our milk will be not not certificated as satisfactory by any European country.
