POTATOES. In the course of its storage allocate such periods: postharvest, (the medical – ripening), the main – deep rest, and spring (after the beginning of germination of tubers). The medical period lasts 2-3 weeks, during this period high temperature for ripening of tubers and curing of mechanical damages is necessary to potatoes. The temperature of 15-20 degrees, relative humidity of air of 85-90 % is optimum for this purpose.

Till the end of this period the temperature should be lowered to 10 degrees, in 40-60 days to finish to 2-5 degrees and to support at this level throughout all main period of storage. During the spring period (since the end of February) to slow down germination of tubers, temperature reduce on 1-3 degrees in comparison with the main period.

 CABBAGE. Amoger – 611, Kharkov, the Snow White, Capital, etc. is better to put the leveled intact heads of cabbage of the average size of winter grades.
