GRAPES AND the GARDEN – my CALLING
More than ten years ago, having received 50 hectares of the earth, I created the farm. In the first year a part of the massif sowed winter wheat, other part left under steam. But it in the beginning. To me then on my lands the garden and a vineyard already saw. My former work of the agriculturist on long-term plantings in KSP of the XXI congress of KPS, the Krasnogvardeysky area probably affected.
Thanks to diligence of the small collective, our persistence we already have 12 hectares of fructifying vineyards on which considerable part we grow up table grades. And 15 more hectares of fruit plantings. The small site is occupied by an apple-tree and a pear, the main areas took away under a peach and nectarines, as defined the name of our economy – KFH "Nectarine".
Fruitfully I cooperate with scientists of the Crimean experimental station of gardening, wine growing and Magarach wine Institute, the Nikitsky botanical garden and other scientific institutions.
Different there were years this decade – fruitful and low-yield, winter frosts strongly damaged vineyards and fruit. But we didn’t lower a hand, continued to work, found additional sources of receipt of money. In particular, when there were young plantings, in row-spacings grew up strawberry, were engaged in cultivation of saplings. In everything the most cruel economy of means was established, to have to combine some works.
Over time we acquired the necessary equipment, found sales markets, started refrigerator construction. On the example were convinced that small farms should be engaged in cultivation of grapes and fruit. Certainly, there is a lot of difficulties, often there is no finance therefore the state support is necessary. Insurance of risks and payment of the state subsidies should be the main link, on my belief.
