Pepper - one of the most ancient vegetable cultures, widely cultivated worldwide. The homeland of the grades of sweet pepper extended today in Europe – Mexico and Guatemala. To Ukraine pepper delivered in XVIV. from the Balkan Peninsula the Bulgarian truck farmers. Probably, therefore sweet pepper at us call Bulgarian.
Pepper is very exacting to heat. The optimum temperature for growth and development of plants of 20-300 S.Pri 130S their growth stops, and at a minus 0,3-0,50 From a plant perish. Well grows on cultivated, vlago-both air-penetrable sandy soils and legkosuglinisty chernozems, doesn’t transfer the sour heavy and rehumidified soils. It is sympathetic on organic and mineral fertilizers. Prior to the beginning of a phase of a plodoobrazovaniye needs the raised doses of phosphoric fertilizers, since a phase of formation of fruits and till the end of vegetation – in potash fertilizers.
Sweet pepper - polyvitaminic culture (in green fruits – to 270, in mature – 482 mg of % of ascorbic acid), a significant amount of vitamins of group B (V1 – 0,06, V2 – 0,01, V6 – 0,3, V9 – 14 mg of %), and also contains carotene (4,5 mg of %). It is rich with mineral substances: potassium of 140 mg, calcium of 24 mg, sodium of 1,0 mg, iron of 0,5 mg which play important role in formation of hemoglobin of blood. Fruits contain to 6 % of sugars, 0,1 % of starch, 1,4 % of cellulose, 1,8 % of a protein.
Sweet pepper is recommended to be used as effective antiscorbutic and anti-sclerous remedy, for strengthening of walls of blood vessels, removal from an organism of cholesterol, appetite and digestion improvement, at a breakdown, an anemia. Thanks to the high content of vitamins P and C which normalize permeability and elasticity of walls of blood vessels, juice of sweet pepper recommend to the weakened and sick children, expectant mothers, and also elderly people.
Sweet pepper is widely used in food in a fresh, stewed, marinaded, tinned look.
