Vaccination against rage – a compulsory procedure in case you contacted to biological liquids (a saliva, krovi etc.) wild animals. If thus it is not proved that the animal isn’t the carrier of a virus of rage, it is considered that it is infected. Such strict measures are caused by almost 100 percent mortality of people from this disease.
However, about 40 pricks in a stomach it is possible to forget – now everything much more simply and almost without serious consequences. Pricks become intramuscularly in a deltoid muscle of a shoulder or in a hip. Vaccination are necessary for beginning no later than the 14th day after contact to an animal, then on 3, 7,14 and the 28th day. At such scheme good immunity, however World Health Organization (WHO) is created recommends also the 6th injection – in 90 days after the first. The same, who is included into group of risk (veterinarians, cynologists, hunters), it is necessary to take root beforehand. For these people of an inoculation are carried out according to specially established scheme with the first revaccination in 12 months. The fox is better for "feeding" with a vaccine, rather than to kill.
Destruction of animals – not an effective way of fight against distribution of rage which strikes generally wild animals of family dog, and foxes become the main carrier of a virus murderer. From ginger devils can pick up killing relay race and pets – cats, dogs, cows, goats, hamsters.
Aren’t insured from a devil virus and people. Ukraine on an incidence of rage takes an "honourable" second place in Europe, meanwhile this disease in our country remains while an unresolved problem. For fight against rage in our country traditionally used universal destruction of red beauties. In 1999-2006 in Ukraine independent shooting of foxes which didn’t give any results was allowed.
But the alternative to a bloody method of fight against rage of foxes is. World Organization of health protection in only effective way of fight against rage in population of wild animals recognizes a method of peroralny vaccination. It developed in Europe nearly half a century back. The essence of this method is quite simple: a vaccine place in special baits which scatter in big territories. Foxes eat a bait and gain immunity against a disease. The vaccine operates through a gastroenteric path, its action remains enough progressive tense. Immunizirovannye animals create a peculiar barrier on a way of distribution of a killing disease. In order that the virus of rage stopped to extend, it is enough to immunize 60 % of foxes.
Through baits experts consider vaccination of animals as the real break in fight against rage: this method recognized in the majority of countries of Western Europe the most effective and as economically justifiable. In the European countries applied different schemes of fight against rage, adapting them for "own" conditions, but vaccination was a basis of actions. Use of natural and artificial barriers of ridges and the rivers for isolation of separate regions became one of actions. Now, according to WHO, thanks to active carrying out vaccination, rage completely disappeared in Finland, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg, serious successes managed to be reached in Canada and the USA. Germany and Poland rage to win yet it was not possible, but frequency of diseases there decreased.
In Republic of Belarus the state program of fight against rage was a few years ago accepted: vaccination of wild predators was one of which directions. But this fight didn’t bring notable success. Method expensive. One bait costs from one to one and a half dollars, on their one square kilometer it is necessary at least 15-20. Besides, it is necessary to include in expenses also other articles – transportation and work of people. Nevertheless, sooner or later to apply this method all the same it is necessary and, if to develop the correct strategy, it is possible to achieve good results at the minimum monetary expenses.
The bait has a "tasty" smell of fish or meat, and with it vagrant and raccoon dogs can be tempted – it will do them only good. With a raccoon dog there are some difficulties. It too is a carrier of a virus of rage, but runs into hibernation: can lie down to sleep with a virus, to "endure" the incubatory period, to leave hibernation and to start to infect animals. But raccoons in this case not main danger. The main source of a killing virus – population of foxes, and if to cope with rage at these animals, the disease can be won. The virus of rage is transferred through a saliva of the infected animal. The incubatory period proceeds on the average two-three months, but sometimes an artful disease can hide for a long time and have an effect five-six years later after a sting.
