Our newspaper repeatedly already published materials about bird flu. But as the disease it is unpredictable, in migration of a wild bird its unexpected repeated flashes are possible, we and offer our readers this publication.
By estimates of ornithologists, only for the autumn and winter period of migration over the territory of the Crimea 25 million birds fly by. Over 10 million individuals remain on wintering on the peninsula – mainly in Prisivashye. As far as it is dangerous from the point of view of emergence and distribution of a virus of bird flu the whole world was convinced in the winter of 2005-2006 when the Crimea was captured by this disease. And how were prepared for this winter responsible for counteraction to bird flu of service of the autonomous republic? The head of department of veterinary medicine tells about it in AR Crimea Maria MIROSHNICHENKO.
The veterinary service carries constantly out monitoring virologic and serologichesky researches for identification of a virus and control of a situation in the territory of our peninsula. Over it three laboratories work: The state republican laboratory of veterinary medicine, Donetsk interregional specialized laboratory on studying of a disease of birds and the Crimean research station of poultry farming. Since the beginning of year over 18 thousand researches are carried out. A situation under control. Neither our laboratory, nor other research centers didn’t reveal a virus. However it doesn’t testify that danger passed. The situation remains intense. And not only in Ukraine, and and around the world. The virus very changeable, and therefore from the moment of migration of birds exists a high probability of its emergence.
For the researches we take a material from workers of a wood and hunting economy. We closely cooperate with them. We developed plans of monitoring researches in each area and the city where there are hunters. They leave and carry out shooting of a bird (wild natatorial and sinantropny – that that constantly is in the peninsula territory). This material submit to the Crimean laboratory for carrying out monitoring researches. The last positive result was in May. However, it doesn’t testify yet that bird flu this year won’t be.
On our peninsula the extreme protivoepizootichesky commission at AR Crimea Council of ministers is created. Since the beginning of year it already carried out 16 meetings on which the preventive actions were discussed, capable to prevent distribution of bird flu on the peninsula. By the special resolution of this commission of the enterprise of poultry farming are transferred to the closed operating mode. To all administrative regions of the Crimea over 40 thousand information leaflets which contained information useful to the population are dispatched. After all it is necessary that people knew what to do and how to behave in a case or death of a bird, knew where to address and what actions to carry out. Besides, explanatory talks with the population are constantly given. For this purpose our experts leave to settlements. Work on flu prevention on places is carried out also by local government bodies.
Very important and how people in case of infection of a bird will move themselves.
It is clear that in a case and her death to make the correct diagnosis and, probably, only the veterinarian to some extent prevent further distribution of a virus can. But make it it can only if people will in due time tell him that occurred.
How to protect the economy from possible infection with a virus of bird flu?
At all don’t allow, that the poultry contacted to the wild. Many people it is the requirement ignore and let out the geese and a weft on vygul. The risk of infection by a poultry virus thereby increases. At identification of the facts free vygulnogo the maintenance of poultry (and such form of the contents is forbidden by the resolution of the extreme protivoepizootichesky commission) owners are involved in administrative responsibility. The bird should be isolated completely.
Recently in the Crimea the international scientific and practical conference on problems of bird flu took place. To the New World there arrived over 200 scientists from 26 countries of the world. Scientists were struck that, how this virus is changeable. It so quickly mutates that it is simply impossible to make a vaccine and to guarantee that the disease won’t be.
However at us in the Crimea shortly begins possible to use a vaccine of the Ukrainian production. The Kharkov experts developed it. This vaccine passes test. But unfortunately, meanwhile all vaccines – injektsionny, i.e. it is necessary to take a syringe and to give injections to each bird. It is inconvenient, but what will make? Let’s carry out household rounds.
The Crimean service of veterinary medicine and the government of the Crimean autonomy put long ago questions before Cabinet council of Ukraine and Department of veterinary medicine about need of carrying out vaccination of a bird for Prisivashye and other regions where in connection with autumn migration of wild birds infection threat remains. However I want to emphasize once again that in connection with high extent of distribution of a virus of full safety vaccination doesn’t guarantee.
As to the head, it is pleasant to me that all actions planned still in September, 2005 which have been carried out in due time and correctly, were recognized at world level. There came specialists of the international epizootichesky bureau, expertized to our actions. Also confirmed that we led them as should. For today we are completely provided with disinfectants, but the equipment, means of individual protection of people as wasn’t, and still not. These questions should be solved on a national level. All this is very expensive, but it is necessary. And it excites me today.
